2026 Adventure Moto Big Bore Ride — Tour Recap

The 2026 Big Bore Ride brought riders together in Canberra for six days of adventure riding through the NSW and Victoria High Country, covering more than 2,400 kilometres of dirt roads, forestry trails and alpine ridgelines. The group ranged from first-time adventure riders to those with decades of experience, all riding together under full support.

After sign-on and a welcome dinner in Canberra, the tour headed south through Kosciuszko National Park and Snowy Hydro country, taking in Elliotts Way's high alpine ridgelines before reaching Albury. From there the route continued through Magic Forest and Beechworth, past the historic Eldorado Gold Dredge, and on through technical forestry trails to Merrijig.

A highlight of the tour followed: the ride up to Craig's Hut, then on through Lake Cobbler, Paradise Falls and the Goldie Spur ridgeline to Mount Buffalo, where the group's carpark party dinner capped off the day overlooking the valley. The longest day of the tour came next, running via the Dargo High Plains Road and the Benambra-Corryong Road into the Snowy Mountains, with a long stretch of remote dirt before the group settled into Jindabyne for two nights.

A loop day from Jindabyne took in Bombala, Delegate and the historic McKillops Bridge timber crossing over the Snowy River, with the Barry Way's cliffside road as the centrepiece. Deteriorating weather saw the group turn back ahead of schedule, prioritising rider safety over completing the full loop. Conditions worsened further on the final day, with cold, wet and windy weather — and snow falling on nearby Mount Perisher — leading to a shortened route back through Cobargo, Moruya and Captain's Flat to Canberra, where the tour closed with a group dinner and prize-giving.

Throughout the six days, the group was supported by Vagabond Moto's zero, mid-pack and sweep riders, mechanical and medical support, and a dedicated photo and video crew. The 2026 Big Bore Ride reinforced what keeps riders coming back year after year: well-planned routes through genuinely remote country, professional support that lets riders focus on the ride, and a group of people who make the trip memorable regardless of what the weather does.
