Loop 1 sets the benchmark early, dropping riders straight into the heart of the Victorian High Country. The day begins in the Crooked River valley, winding along a historic mining corridor with frequent river crossings, tight bends and mixed surfaces that suit lightweight single-cylinder bikes. From the valley floor, the route climbs hard toward the alpine, breaking out of the trees and onto the exposed ridgeline of the Blue Rag Range. The ascent to the Trig Point is steep, narrow and spectacular, delivering sweeping views across the mountains surrounding Dargo. The loop then opens up along the Dargo High Plains Road, where flowing alpine sections and smooth gravel provide a fast, enjoyable run back into town. Rivers, climbs, ridgelines and open high country all feature in this opening loop, setting the tone for the days ahead. *Route subject to change

As the valley opens, the route flows toward Ensay, where broader river country and rolling farmland allow the pace to reset. From there, a mix of forestry tracks and narrow spurs carries the loop through steady climbs and descents toward the Dogs Grave waypoint. The return to Dargo follows flowing ridgelines and winding descents, gradually tightening as the terrain drops back toward town. At the top, the loop follows the ridge to The Pinnacles Lookout, where a short walk to the fire tower delivers sweeping views across deep valleys and distant peaks, tying together the journey of the past four days. The return leg blends flowing ridge sections with relaxed descents back into the Dargo network.
