From the wild surf of the Great Ocean Road to the rugged peaks of the Grampians and the deep green heart of the Otways, Sea to Stone is a 4-day adventure ride through Victoria’s most iconic landscapes. Starting in Lorne, riders leave the ocean behind for the goldfields town of Ararat, then carve through the ridgelines and valleys of the Grampians on the way to Hamilton’s wide plains. From there, the route bends back to the coast at Port Campbell, home of the 12 Apostles, before finishing with a run through the towering gums and fern-lined roads of the Otways, returning to Lorne where forest meets sea. Four days of dirt, bitumen, backroads, country towns, and unforgettable scenery — a ride across worlds.
Where you’ll ride

We roll out of Lorne and cruise along the Great Ocean Road, one of the most famous stretches of bitumen in Australia. Not far from town we pass under the Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch, the timber gateway that marks the official start of the road and the perfect spot for a quick photo before turning inland. From here the route climbs into the edge of the Otways, with tall gums and fern gullies giving us a taste of what’s to come later in the ride. The forest eventually breaks into open farmland and quiet country lanes as we make our way towards Beaufort, a goldfields town that makes a natural pause. The day winds down with the final run into Ararat, where the first outlines of the Grampians rise in the distance and we settle in for the night.
